Children around the world are scared that the Boogie Man may be lurking under their bed or in their closet. Well, adults have a Boogie Man too. We may act brave, but deep down all of us have fears that nearly paralyze us.
When we aren't prepared for life's struggles, including our own failures, we respond in fear. And as Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
Why? Because fear immobilizes us. Fear paralyzes us. But fear can help us in its own way: it can send us into The Thinking Room. Though it's surely better to do all of the thinking before the fear strikes, if nothing else, fear motivates serious thinking.
You have The Thinking Room. You have a time and space designated solely for thinking. You can research the problem and think through the solutions. In fact, with the technology we are so fortunate to have, you can probably find someone else who has experienced the same challenge and has already paved the way for you!
