Understanding is Linked to Action

Posted: November 11, 2011, 11:51 am

The wise man thinks before acting and the fool thinks after it. Which approach best describes you?

If you saw a fire, you'd grab the extinguisher and put it out. But you didn't think about it right then; you thought about it long before. You understood what would be expected of you in the case of an emergency. You were prepared! You bought the extinguisher. You read the directions. You placed it in a wise spot. The THINKING happened with all the preparation. The UNDERSTANDING happened when you put out the fire. You must have both. Make sense?

You must prepare for a job interview in the same way. You've worn your best suit. You've practiced eye contact and hand-shaking. You've spiffed up your resume. You've thought of some questions to ask. This is the thinking that went into your preparation for the interview.

If you invested time in The Thinking Room, you've prepared several steps further. You've anticipated the hardest questions your interviewer could ask. You've contemplated your reaction should they make an offer.

During your interview, you will understand the purpose of this thinking. You will put your thoughts into action. This is how you will see change in your life: marrying together thinking and understanding. Preparation and action. This brings results.
