  • Twitter Disappears - 2010 Prediction

As our loyal listeners know, we had Dom Sagolla, one of the co-founders of Twitter, on our show. He was discussing his book, 140 Characters; A Style Guide for the Short Form.

I wonder what Dom thinks of a CNBC prediction by Technology Reporter Jim Goldman who writes, "And Twitter, as we know it, will fade away. Either acquired or shut down. $155 million in venture capital so far, and still no meaningful revenue stream to speak of. And certainly no profits. At some point, someone will step up and yell "Tulips!""

The reference to "tulips," in case you don't get it, is the 1500s Tulip price bubble and crash.

As with any technology, you have to follow the money. Unless Twitter begins to show a profit for investors, it's days may be numbered.

A better question to ask, however, might be what will Twitter look like in the future? How long will it be before we see short-form video delivered over the Internet to computers and mobile phones?
