Best Part of My Day

I know I'm supposed to say that the best part of my day is doing the program THE BUSINESS OF LIFE. In this case, however, the best part of my day happened before the program.

Chris Hillman was being interviewed by Tom Spence on KVTA, our sister station. I'm a big fan of Chris Hillman's music (The Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassass, Desert Rose, etc), so the opportunity to be in the studio while he was being interviewed was a rare privilege.

Chris was accompanied by his wife, Connie. The Hillmans are a stalwart part of the Ventura community and, as coincidence would have it, neighbors of mine.

If hearing Chris interviewed wasn't enough, afterwards Connie and Chris gave me a Manassas CD titled Manassas Pieces and a coffee mug as presents. Very kind.

What caught my attention about the speech was its subtext: mentors and the importance of giving back to help others. Judge for yourself.
